   This is a great article. We are not going to recover from what the radical reactionaries have done until we get a good class war going. We need to get something like the old Progressive Party and the old Socialist Party going. We need hell raisers like “Sockless” Jerry Simpson, “Bloody Bridles” Wyeth, and “Pitchfork” Ben Tillman.
   We have to get the likes of them and the media (a real liberal media) to go with them.

   There are plenty of us forward-looking rabble rousers out here. The problem is that the audience is limited to the few other rabble rousers around the community. Most of those who should be expected to join the audience are hiding under the cloak of cynicism.
   How to convert the cynics to believers, ready and willing to take a chance and follow a dream? That is the problem.

   When the stench of dehumanized corporate rule of the United Companies of North America awakens us to rightful indignation we may begin to recover lost dignity.US domestic policy promotes ignorance by deliverate underfunding education, and we still see tv programs highlighting youth problem with self-esteem. The intelligence of any “poor” individual is reduced to low self-esteem when there is nobody to believe in, including those who are in power, those who control our country, our world… This is at the core of our poverty identity as nation. EU nations citizens may earn less and still be dignity rich. The brainwashing distortions of reality in the US media remind me of the communist propaganda schoolmates refugees from Communist Cuba told us about. “Comite de barrio” a neighborhood established committee for the discontented to spy’n tell, gossip against and bring suit against those he or she disliked. This is what comes to my mind when the post 2001 USA airport announcement says, “If you see unsupervised luggage or item, immediately call security [paraphrased]…”
   Note, it does not say, if you see an unsupervised child or valuable…
   always the insinuation of danger, as in, “The fear alert has been raised to amber, orange, etc…”
   Who are we afraid of? The Chinese or of ourselves?
   People of US, not us of America, since there are over 20 countries within the north, central and south expanse of the continent who also call themselves Americans, and if you doubt this you may ask an Argentine, they can teach you history? But, People, we ought to fear the dullness generated by undue comfort while the rest of the world hungers and meekly suffers persecution. Why is it that the airport announcements do not say, have you fed the hungry today, so they do not jump your fence to take your contaminated eggs, ecoli greens, hormoned cows, etc.”

   International Law does not provide for the arrests or convictions of those responsible for corporate crimes against humanity.
   That is at the core of our problem now, our companies are the new gestapos, there are no Nuremburg trials against them. We no longer have a government, we are ruled by corporations, and they are above the law.
   No laws were designed to treat them as rulers, emperors, sovereign states…

   Cynics can be either the confused or the uneducated afraid to show their ignorance. The risk of massive destruction and misery is enough to somber the smirk of cynicism.

   Have we lost all sense of responsibility, forget democracy, that is the joke.

   While I support progressive populism completely, I don’t think “Pitchfork” Ben Tillman should be a poster person for this cause. I’d never heard of him prior to reading the first comment corresponding to this article. From what I could quickly gather, Tillman appears to have been a racist who used populism as a front for his segregationist agenda.

   Beyond The Event Horizon
   Will someone please remind the Beltway Media– to see about J-o-h-n  E-d-w-a-r-d-s!!

   Bill Clinton why did you NOT! employ the same painstaking talent for finessing YOUR!! image, to fine-tune your savage NAFTA Wars (hastily hustled thru the process, before the public could get wind of it). When Clinton invited the fat-cat takeover of our free press in ‘96 (Telecommunications Act of ‘96– The Event Horizon) our gov’t lost its transparency. Everything that transpired after that went into the media blackhole to be ignored or spun by the “Friends of Bill” –all those giddy gazillionaires he’s spent his political career ingratiating himself to. I mean –the fallout from NAFTA was/is exploding but the liberties we’ve seen GWB take would not have been possible without Bill Clinton’s historical across-the-board deregulation.

   “The moving finger writes,” privilege or entitlement won’t handle it and no amount of bullying, bulldozing, spin, or even $$$ will change it– history in a free world, won’t be written as “My Life” (his autobiography) but will eventually recognize Bill Clinton as the most weighty influence– to cripple democracy in US history. Bush never could’ve done it without Clinton to implement the GOP’s
   biggest hard right–priorities.

   Careers have been lost and those who even look! grassroots dare to oppose, or worst of all!!! threaten to expose the Clinton’s Beltway have a way of vanishing politically. Please don’t help the royal couple continue undermining our party & eliminating other–grassroots! candidates.
