Let me get this straight now. even Iraqi citizens are now saying that the Baghdad government that we support is nothing more than a front for Iranian interests even as Bush beats the drum for war against Iran. How much more bizarre can it get?
In all reporting about Sunday massacre the most important thing was conspicuously absent: who was an enemy? What its motivation for fight was? With conspicuous absence of interest to find motivation for the whole war among custodians of People’s House, how could possibly American people judge what the right strategy is? Alas, people’s representatives seem very oblivious to the fact that they will pay the ultimate price.
Sure, one Republican Senator from Oregon finally realized that he is at the end of his rope, though such an admission is too little and too late. Too little – because it is not him, who is at the end of the rope, it is an American Empire, which was pushed into the noose by intoxicated empire builders. Too late – because making symbolic noose all too real nuclear sledge-hummer, Bush’s strategists push the whole planet on the brink of nuclear catastrophe.
The only optimistic attitude toward current situation might be acceptance of old Keynesian maxim, ‘On the long run we all dead’. So, why not to assume that nuclear annihilation is simply ultimate self-correcting mechanism, an ultimate bankruptcy of unregulated capitalistic free market. Is not it time for Bankruptcy Court to restructure the balance of species on this Earth, Inc. and to get rid of the most cancerous one?
Or it is time for stockholders to put away self-destructive management?
Talk about a fiasco! This sounds like the Keystone Kops are doing the fighting in Najaf. If it wasn’t so deadly, it would almost be laughable. I weep for the innocents that are caught in the crossfire. We can’t let this slaughter continue much longer.
Al-Jazeera presents these kind of stories as the US army give them out, the only difference with others like CNN is that they make it clear where the story come from.
They said the group was called ’soldiers of the sky’ which doesn’t make sense in Arabic, but in English that would be ’soldiers of heaven’!
In Arabic sky/heaven is not synonymous with paradise, so the name is clearly false.
That little bit was more that enough for me to know that the whole thing was fake!
Half of the groups they come up with have names that don’t make sense in Arabic, but makes a lot of sense in English!!
How tragic… and this is probably just the first of many massacres to come…

This, sure as hell is not the first massacre, but you’re right, there will be more. In 1979, the Iranians attacked the US embassy(an act of war). We used and supplied Sa Damn Who’s Insane and applauded his chemical attacks on Iranian soldiers.
The current regime in Washington has murdered hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens, shot up wedding parties, funerals and religious pilgrims. The famous golden masque has been destroyed, whole cities reduced to rubble, and a pro Iranian government put in place. We tell the people of Iraq that they are better off now that Sa Damn is dead.
The “funny”(not really) part is that we did it all because of a bogus claim “he tried to kill my daddy” by a silly little tyrant with a “silver spoon in his mouth.”
Americans sure can be stupid. Impeach now!

This article is 100% false. How do I know? I was there. I was right in the thick of it and let me tell you that is not how it went down. The govenor’s chief aid(s) were being surrounded by a local group called the soldiers of heaven and called us for help. All we were supposed to do was set up a blocking position so we could save them and get them out. We started receiving sporadic fire from many different directions but made sure to identify any target as a threat before we shot. We were told there were about 15 guys that we were to provide a sort of corridor for (believe me we didn’t want anybody to die for no reason). Instead of 15 there was like 60 that came out of the wood work. All of them were saying that they had been attacked by some insurgent like group called soldiers of heaven or they didn’t answer us at all. A lot of them looked like they were in rough shape. Our commander told the governor and his aids “you make sure these people know who saved them.” Instead he goes out and says we were too destructive.
After we left one of the apaches that was supporting us got shot down. So we had to go in and rescue the pilots. We were ambushed twice on the way there and lost 2 very good Iraqi soldiers on the way. We ended up killing a lot of bad guys. These were not defenseless peasants. Defenseless peasants do not carry pack packs full of RPGs and have truck mounted anti aircraft guns. These guys were on meth and all sorts of things. They out numbered us 20 to 1, had guns and ammo up the wazoo. The only reason I lived through that is because God protected us. There is no way we should have walked out of that gauntlet. Yes it was a slaughter. We killed a lot of them and they didn’t get many of us. But they were the aggressors. They attacked us and we fought back. They got their asses handed to them and now they want to cry.
I am upset with the Soldiers of Heaven for disrupting the relative peace we had in An Najaf and splitting the unity that was being built. But it wasn’t us. What do you expect us to do when are under attack? Do you want us to lose? I am also upset with the media for not telling the whole story on this.
This fight was huge!!! If we had lost that fight Najaf would have fallen to the extremists. After that fight, we were informed that had we lost there, Bagdad would have fallen within a week.
This article is not only wrong, it is DEAD wrong.
