People don’t need these capitalists jumping on the renewable energy bandwagon. People should use the energy paradigm shift to break free and become totally independent of far-flung capital. The whole approach is scalable, with the entire US transport fuel supplied on only 5% of farm/range land. Now the people know they can eliminate carbon emissions, eliminate resource wars and eliminate mass enslavement with a relatively simple policy: Demanding local production of permaculture biodiesel and series diesel-electric, or gas turbine electric transport vehicles as part of an overall energy policy that also includes consumption tax, rail subsidies, renewable energy sources (e.g. wind, tide, geothermal, solar-thermal), and distributed electric/thermal cogeneration.
It is nice (in a perverse sorta way) that some big shot investment manager has come around to thinking somewhat like I do. Especially when that big shot is Cheney’s investment manager. Unfortunately I can not glory in this for long before my military/industrial/banking/government complex induced paranoia sets in. Always look at who is to gain. WAR MEASURES
Even though my understanding of this war is limited to available news sources and history, it is clear that our legislators erred when they granted this unlearned and arrogant administration the authority to embark on this misadventure. The weapons inspectorswere there and we had contained Saddam. The resulting “civil war” and chaos had been predicted by many informed experts, and should have been obvious–but their advice was ignored.
Things could have been even worse if Saddam really had a few biological or primitive nuclear weapons, and had unleashed them on our troops during th invasion. THis could have killed tens of thousands of our troops–not to mention the Iraqis. The administrations refusal to honor the advice of the recent advisory commission, which had recommended dialogue with the neighboring countries, is inconceivable.
This administrtations opposition to energy conservation and global warming measures only add to our worldwide discain resulting from this war– this must be reversed now..
The only rational option left is for congress to sieze the war powers from the president–and then pursue a logicall course based on the recommendations of the commissions and informed advisors.(there are several). This would include dialogue with the neighboring nations (including our adversaries), firm commitments to end this disastrous misadventure, curbing profiteering, promoting measures for energy conservation and global warming itigation–and avoiding a war with Iran– among other things. The alternative is to permit continuation of this reckless course, which most experts believe would only add to the carnage.
