   It is a real big crock of poo-poo to say we can’t impeach Bush. Mark these words: America is dead without impeachment of this entire administration. Congress is complicit in the past 6 years of deceit if the issue of impeachment is not addressed. As of this moment, America does not exist. For the preservation of America, the laws Congress has enacted and Bush has signed for the last 6 years must be rescinded. We must return to the rule of law and upgrade our system of government as Jefferson warned.

   If Cheney was impeached that would affect his legacy in a negative way and that would be a positive. However, I would think he would find a way to pull the strings of his puppet.

   Nail them both, for crying out loud. And don’t stop there — Rice, Rummy, Wolfie, & all the rest. All of them need to face a Nuremberg-like tribunal. But start with the two at the top.

   If this pack of gangsters is permitted to get away scot-free with what they’ve done, all their actions then become “precedents” — which their successors could point to as justifying similar outrages.

   I am surprised I didn’t read any reference to PNAC, Cheney’s neo con think tank that, in the late 1990’s blueprinted our invasion of Iraq. He is the biggest, baddest, neo con SOB in Washington DC. Yes, impeach him out of office ASAP as he is very, very, very directly involved in quagmiring us into Iraq and needs to be held accountable down to the bone marrow.

   Impeaching Cheney without impeaching Bush sends the wrong message. Before impeachment, comes investigation. To the best of my knowledge, Pelosi has not taken investigation off the table.

   One ideal vehicle has just entered the defense phase. In the next two weeks the defense of Libby should be completed and Libby trial should be headed towards a verdict. In my mind this is an ideal time to start an investigation by the House into the events surrounding the Libby trial. Specifically Libby should be called as a witness to testify about the events that lead to the trial.

   Libby will not be able to plead the fifth. The trial will be fresh in everyone’s mind. Congress will be investigating what laws are appropriate to prevent the Libby fiasco from happening again.

    I agree that there is no impediment to impeaching Cheney. It will send the same message that no one is above the law.

    I do believe that trying to impeach Bush would only have the appearance of pay-back for Clinton’s impeachment but Cheney is not liked by many in his own party and it would definitely cripple Bush for the next 20 months.

    It’s about time that Bush and Cheney are removed from office. So far they have told the American people nothing but lies and have misled them oever and over.

    First about the so called weapons of mass destruction, which did not exist and were used as an excuse to invade Iraq so they could install a pro-American government which would sell oil to them at U.S. prices.

    But such was expected from a Texas “Oil Man” who like his father has only the best interest at heart of big (OIL)corporations. Cheeney is no more than his “yes” man and is now the fall guy for some of Bush’s “mistakes”. Get rid of both crooks and let’s elect peopel who are honest for a change. First tricky Dicky, then (dis)honest George accompanied by another Tricky Dick, what’s next. At least we will now for sure that Hillary is not a Dick.

    This whole thing has gone on long enough. Everyone knows that Cheney referred to Bush as “The Apprentice”. Anyone with a working brain cell knows that Bush was merely put in place as a front man for Cheney and the rest of the Republican elitists. Yes, impeach Cheney. Then, impeach Bush. What they have done to the image of the USA is horrible. First, they steal two elections, then they work outside the law for their own betterment. We need these thugs out of office. We need to show the world that the USA is still a nation with a conscience.

    Even though there may not be enough votes to succeed in impeaching Cheney and Bush, it is utterly imperative to start the impeachment process NOW. Starting with Cheney.
    This way, from the voting record, the voters can see every single one who needs to be removed from office whether dem or repub. The dem majority is not really a majority, there are still too many who are posers, Bush plants, and criminals.
    ANY elected official that shys away from or does not support impeachment and criminal prosecution of the corrupt administration is fit only for removal at their next election, up to and including the new speaker Ms. Pelosi. If this congress fails to act, then the issue must be continually put before the next. Fear of failure is NOT a good reason to not attempt to impeach the criminals. If we only get as far as a resoulution to not act, we will still have those names to vote out of office.

    I agree with the feeling. But, I feel that anything that doesn’t include Bush, for clearly impeachable offenses is like cutting the tail off the monster, instead of the head. He may not be the brains, but it would certainly put a stop to the war in the shortest amount of time with the least resistance. Everything after that will be clean-up for our children and theirs. the last I heard we had 6 months to go before our financial situation is beyond repair and about 5 years more of life on the planet as we know it. Can’t we at least try to stop this.

    Bush and Cheney (and many others, you know who)are guilty of treason. Of course they should be impleached and later tried for war crimes. If US citizens don’t do this others will when we are no longer strong enough to resist. If possible, we should clean our own house and retain our pride. Oh, and by the way, there is a matter of war reparations. Where oh where will be get the money for that?

    So according to Ulrich, the Democrats feel they would’t move to impeach Bush if he is found to have committed impeachable crimes because “the voters expect less partisanship and more actual accomplishments” ??

    This to me (a Democrat who is at this point pretty miffed) is an utterly meaningless statement.

    I expect our elected officials to uphold the law. It is in their hands. It is their responsibility and not a choice. If Bush broke the law then Bush should be brought to fully understand and bear the consequences, as well as Cheney.

    I expect those I elected to abide by and to enforce our country’s laws, upholding our constitution, treaties and legal system, above all and first. That is what I as a voter require of the Democrats I voted for. If they cannot bring themselves to “risk” enforcing their nation’s own laws and holding those who do not accountable, unfortunately I will look for other candidates in the next election. Because that is pretty darn sad.

    Both Cheney and Bush are imminently qualified for impeachment, but one downside to getting rid of Cheney only: then Bush can get in a “fresh face” to bolster their positioning as Republican candidate in 2008.

    Bush, Cheney, Biden, Peloski,Rockerfeller, Clinton, are all part of the same machine, “The Government,The State”.

    “Let us place the AX at the root of the tree.” Bush is a puppet placed in position because of his great acting skills.

    All persons of sound mind realise that this entire Administration is a fraud. Impeachment is necessary now to clean the scum from the walls and floors of America.

    Our “Integrity” is at question. The minds of future generations is corrupted as a result of behaviors of this generation.

    How can the leaders of this nation honestly look into the eyes of their or our children and say “I have integrity”?

    The impeachment process needs to begin with the Supreme Court. Back in 2000 the Supreme court issued 2 Unconstitutional rulings.Gore v. Bush and Alexander v. Mineta. See below for those details. Then the Congress, and Senate which abdicated its own power to declare war and use force to the President with the Iraq War Resolution and further gave away our freedoms with 2 different versions of Patriot Acts. Once this is done then we should impeach the entire Administration involved with leading us into war and turn them ALL over to the Hague as War Criminals. Based upon the same standards used in the Nuremburg trials after WWII, the US government under President George W Bush has committed both high crimes and misdemeanors as well as War crimes and crimes against humanity. Anything less than this is just another white washing of American “justice”. Enjoy!! Remember - we get the government we deserve.

    Gore v. Bush - the Supreme Court, whose sole Constitutional purpose is to SET PRECEDENT OF LAW - did the opposite for the first time in its history. In the ruling, forget the outcome for minute, the Court stated that this case could not ever be used for precedent of other cases. A clear violation of its constitutional authority. Essentially the ruling by stating that it cannot be used for precedent makes itself null and void. the FL Supreme Court should have been the final word on the matter. Also, a footnote - the FL State Legislature would have been within its own rights to convene and vote for Presidential electors as it is not a constitutional guarantee for US citizens to vote for Presidential electors (Electoral College). This is also one more reason the power elite in both parties have not eliminated the Electoral College. This small detail, FL citizens do not have the Constitutional guarantee to vote for Presidential Electors, waas also in the ruling of Bush v. Gore in 2000.

    One more case…
    Mineta v. Alexander 2000 - Supreme Court ruled that citizens of Washington DC do not have a Constitutional guarantee to have taxation without representation. Alexander was a US and DC citizen. Mineta of course was Clinton’s Sec. of Commerce replacing the deceased Ron Brown.

    Years ago we would haul rascals like this out into the streets and give them a good coat of tar and feathers. That would be that and the problems would disappear along with the scoundrels. But over time they figured it out. Nowadays you would be hoisted high in the sky with your own petard if you even spoke of such a thing. Yes, all of what is said here is true and oh so very real.

    War, quagmire, skyrocketing national debt, unfathomable corporate profits,… it seems as if the insane are running the asylum.

    I have a solution for the draft evading corporate scoundrels, who sent our brave young troops to their death in the meat grinder that is IRAQ.
    1. Give Bush and Cheney Some of the Blood stained used body armour, our troops are lucky if they get, and they have to pay for it. Then give them a watermellon HumVee, and some water to drink that has some nasty organizems in it, make sure it has the Halliburton label on it so Fat Butt Cheney can see what his filthy company is producing for our troops. Then send them both out on patrol for a couple weeks outside the green zone. I think our problem will be solved, We will see how brave they really are. They are Yellow Demons. Impeach them both now.

    Here I am trying to find the mailing address for the Disabled American Veterans (so I can make a donation) and I run into you people by sheer mistake. I am an Iraq War vet and could not help to respond to this nonsense. You people are out of your minds. The nation is most assuredly not “abuzz” about impeaching Bush. This is for the very simple reason that he has committed no impeachable offenses. War crimes? You’ve got to be kidding. You are the type of people that will say that you “support the troops” and then call the Commander a war criminal. Guess what folks, the Commander in Chief doesn’t tote an M-16 on patrols through Baghdad. Guys like me do. So, essentially, you’re calling me a war criminal and with the same breath voicing your “support.” You’re worried about Cheney and how much money he makes? Guess again. When a President goes into office, all of his investments go into a blind trust to eliminate conflict of interest. Cheney and Haliburton? Wrong again. Cheney left Haliburton when he signed on for the 2000 election. True, he still receives money from Haliburton; however, the amount he receives is the result of his severance package that is a FIXED contract with a FIXED amount paid per year. This means that Cheney has no vested interest in Haliburton because he would receive the same amount of money from them based on prior arrangements whether they made record profits or went completely bankrupt. What you should be worried about is the survival of not only the U.S., but also Western Civilization. The threat of Islam is for real folks. It is the fastest growing religion in the world and the most repressive. The U.S. is just about the last western power that can really hold the line against it. If we fail, and if we fall, forums like this will cease to exist.

    Thanks for the rush to judgement, Cato. We all love our country, we just think the leadership is whacked and needs to be replaced - just like the US Constitution says we can. The Constitution, remember that? The one you swore to defend?

    Just remember who is paying your salary and who you are sworn to fight for; me, my country, my family and many like us all. Not some politician who illegally sent you into harm’s way based on lies, deceit, corruption and war profits.

    You don’t have to agree, but you are way out of line, soldier, to jusge us and criticize the right of us to talk; we are the families of those who are watching your back in that meat-grinder called Iraq and praying for everyone’s safe return.

    For one; Cheney should be arrested for war crimes and war racketeering; and GW Bush needs to be impeached. If we do not do this our credibility with the global community will be damaged for generations. First we must investigate who profited by the illegal invasion of Iraq and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. I am tired of people saying Democrats “want to get even because of Clinton’s impeachment”. One has nothing to do with the other. Our Nation was misled after September 11th. The people responsible for this who have admitted they were wrong to link Iraq to September 11th must be held accountable for their arrogance and abuse of power.
    My understanding is that our “public servants” swear an oath our Constitution and Bill of Rights. (If they are swearing on the family bible they are blurring the line between church and state) If we do not prosecute GW Bush and VP Cheney we may as well kiss the remnants of our Democratic Republic goodbye and say hello to the world’s most powerful Fascist State. The one thing I can say President Bush was right about is that “you are with us; or you are against us”. The American people must speak now or forever more hold their peace. The very principles of our nation are at risk if we do not stand together against this abuse of power. It isn’t about being a “Democrat” or a “Republican”; it is about being an AMERICAN.

    Cheney should be kicked out of office. He has oversteped and abused his powers that the VP office holds. Thats the point in a nutshell. This needs to be done if we are a nation of laws and not a nation of fear.
    Also, there is a distinction between the fighting men and women in our military and our civilian leadership. To critize the civilian leadership does not mean our soldiers are being critized.

    Bush and Cheney should both be impeached and NOW! The dems taking it “off the table” only makes them as guilty as the “leaders”. IMPEACH NOW! The Supreme Court appointed Bush president in 2000 (thanks Sandra Day O’Connor - the swing voter), and Cheney couldn’t find a VP better than himself, so he, who was in charge of selecting a VP candidate, chose himself!! And then, in 2004, the sheeples “elected” them again! Go figure! Finally, we have a few Republicans who have some sense, and what does Congress do? Nothing, Nothing, Nothning!! IMPEACH Bush and Cheney NOW!! If anyone thinks this all wasn’t part of the Carlyle Group’s plan, do your homework - Google the Carlyle Group and see what you get. Poppy Bush, James Baker, the whole gang are there, with photos!
    The only thing Hillary ever said that was really correct, is that “it’s all a vast right-wing conspiracy” and it continues.

    We most definitely do need to impeach both Bush and Cheney … in whatever order makes most sense to ensure success in the process of removing them from office.

    We need to do this because our president and vice president have already done serious harm to our country by perverting its ideals and causing loss and suffering to far too many of us. We need to do this because it will be one significant way to begin to show the rest of the world that we are deeply sorry for what Bush and Cheney have done to Iraq as well as for the harm they have done to international relationships and to the United Nations. We need to do this to begin to clear the way for meaningful reform within our own country. We need to do this so we citizens can regain some confidence that our political processes can be made to work. We need to do this so we can begin to open doors to diplomacy and peaceful paths toward peace. We need to do this to get rid of our “war president” and try to find ourselves a peace president. We need to do this so we can begin to repair the damage that has been done within our own country and our own political institutions. We need to do this so we can begin to make friends with our world neighbors so we can all work together - in a real coalition of the willing - to make our world a better place to live, politically, socially, environmentally. We need to do this for our very survival.

    It is refreshing to read your views. I am an australian and I can say we do not have direct talking when it comes to matters political. We have a captive media and a rigged parliamentary system. As in the US we are seeing a collapse in representative government. The corporations dominate and human rights are diminished and sacrificed to “the economy”; what is good for the economy is mostly a bain for citizens. At least you demonstrate some will and capacity to recover from the damage caused by the Bush administration. I doubt Australians have the capacity or the will or resiliance to reverse the dreadful changes that have been introduced since the 11th September 2001.

    In Aust it seems all is lost.

    In US, as well, it seems all is lost. We need to demonstrate to ourselves and to the international community that we care. We need Hillary, Barack, etc., on the left and McCain, Julliano, etc. on the Right (Which will never happen), to persuade the House Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment hearings for, at the very least, Richard Cheney - and see where this leads.
