   Well, the shit is hitting the fan in Jordan, for sure.

   I was there 18 months ago and at that time the loud grumbling had begin about all the Iraqis pushing up the prices–especially for real estate.

   Most of the Iraqis that crossed into Jordan were not poor folks like a big portion of Jordanians/Palestinians, and at first the Jordanians let greed run the show by jacking up prices because the Iraqis could and would pay them.

   Then they realized they had shot themselves in the foot and now couldn’t afford the prices themselves.

   So now they are basically closing the border.

   Another feather in the US cap — and a lesson for Jordanians….

   Well, another refugee crisis thanks to the West.

   Canada can proudly claim responsibility for our part in creating Afghani refugees, and Iraqis can thank us for letting the US off the hook in Central Asia so that they can ‘do their job’ in Iraq…

   Is this what democracy looks like?

   Did U S State Dep’t. spokesman Sean McCormack actually keep a straight face when he stated that the Iraq refugee problem was “a global responsibility”? The stuff the Bushies are smoking sure must be strong. Where can we buy some?

   I wonder if behind Condi’s pitch is a deal with Haliburton to feed these people for $1000 a meal, liberty fries an extra 200.

   “In his just-released budget, President Bush asked for $35 million to help Iraq’s refugees in fiscal year 2008, plus $15 million in supplemental funding for this year.”

   How much did President Bush ask for in his “just-released” budget to help people in the US who are unemployed and can’t feed and adequately shelter their children, or the 48 million who don’t have health insurance?

   He has already created a virtual civil war between the haves and have-nots in our own country with the billions in tax relief to the wealthy. Do we have to engage in shooting or blowing-up one another to get some assistance from our own tax dollars or will those dollars continue to be earmarked for perpetual war around the globe?
