   I’m glad to know this is happening. I also hope as James Lovelock has suggested, that basic knowledge that may be lost will be stored there as well.

   The fact that we have come to build this vault is very sad indeed. It only goes to show how perilous a situation us humans are getting ourselves into. Instead of storing the seeds of life for an uncertain tomorrow, maybe we should be sowing the seeds of love for a better tomorrow.

   While my guitar gently weeps, I just imagine what a wonderful world we could make out of this mad world if we would only give a little bit to allow us to see the bright side of the road. But I’m just afraid of Americans bringing us on the eve of destruction with their logical song of helter-skelter and I can’t let it be.

   But in the end, the love you give is equal to the love you make.

   “It makes use of the natural cold. It’s planned with the climate change factor taken into consideration and it will be frozen 200 years from now.”

   As one educated in geology, I am amused that the journalist was impressed at it preserving seeds for the incredibly far-off time of 200 years from now! Seeds stored in King Tut’s tomb still germinated 3300 years later.

   Don’t they need to be thinking in the tens-of thousands of years time frame at least?

   This time-myopia is important in current planning in that the really severe consequences runaway global warming may evolve over a thousands-of-years time frame, but this shouldn’t affect our decisions right now the least bit. The preventable extinction of humans 10,000 years from now is no different than if were a threat over the next 30 years.

   Doomsday vault sounds fantastic for keeping our plants and food seeds in the storage for our future need. My question is that how will our next generations know the accessibility and open up the seed storage after the world future disaster occurs? For example, no one knew about the existence of seeds storage in King Tut’s tomb till our today’s archeologists recently discovered the place. Doomsday vault could be a mothball and it could be our future abandoned seed storage because of remote and inaccessible location, especially in Svalbard archipelago that would be forgotten for our future mankind.

   perhaps a waste of energy as it’s intended, afterall, what’s to save, if they have the human energy to access the vault, and wait for it’s fruit, then they’re doing alright. more real promise may be as an isolation from agricorps poisoning of the gene pool.
