   Just as the Bush/Cheney crime family ignored the pleas of the world regarding Iraq, they are totally in a state of delusion when it comes to Iraq.
   The entire cabal needs to be taken before the International Court and tried for war crimes.
   Unfortunately, we, the people of the United States will have a hell of a time making the necessary war reparations and paying off our Chines/Jaapanese credit cards. The US is Broke!

   I listened to someone proclaim the US was bringing to democracy to the less fortunate. I couldn’t help but think, had this statement been made 100 years ago when justifying a belligerent parties invasion, they might very well have proclaimed that “these people were inferior” and needed to be taught good Christian values.

   This really has the appearance of a major quagmire. If the US leave Iraq there is a civil war and potential unrest in the region. If the US remains there will be continued chaos in Baghdad and other places in Iraq as well as confusion at home as to why they can’t leave. The question really should be can Obama, Clinton, Edwards, or anyone devise plan for withdrawal without bad effects? Additionally what about the ‘American interests’? This is what got America into wars, destablisation and regime change in Iraq, Nicaragua, Panama, Somalia and so many other places. Isn’t the US president’s first priority protection of ‘US interests’? Maybe perpetual warfare is the future for the US.

   I just finished watching a bit of the interview Diane Sawyer of
   ABC news did with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

   It just amazes me how self-delusional the mainstream western media is.
   The interviewer sits and accuses Iran of interfering in Iraq with no prove, completely
   Ignoring the fact they invaded a country illegally, violating international law
   And by doing so, have brought about the deaths of hundreds of thousands..
   All the blood that as been spilled there is on their hands.
   Then they have the gull to point a finger at Iran, a country that as not
   Invaded another nation in 250 years.
   The rest of the world who is watching would be rolling in the
   Aisles laughing at their stupidity and arrogance, if the whole thing
   Was not such a tragedy..

   Noam has again pointed us in the right direction. Iraq is a patchwork country only 100 years on from being stitched together by the British Empire. The US is attempting, at great loss to the Iraqs themselves, to create something out of nothing. The break-up of Iraq under the gun that we are now witnessing is human nature taking its course.
   Countries in the region do no want Iraq to disintergrate. Distinct federal areas determined by ethnicity and sect, basically 3 Bantustans, might work in the short term.
   Then again, it only matters what the bankers want.

   Mission accomplished. We built 40,000 nuclear weapons during the cold war we esculated to enrich a few. How much was that swindle worth? Multiples of trillions of dollars was it? Is this war any different? Ask the oil companies about the price of oil going up and their huge profits. Ask the arms industry how they love the current policies. Ask the private companies of security mercenaries and troop services. How about it: mission accomplished? I believe the failed policies just might have been deliberately put in place to ensure a long quagmire of delightful profit for the gated palace communities the majority envy. So we have greed and envy competing. I gag thinking about jealousy.

   Chomsky and countless Americans are alienated by the policies followed by their government. If, as Lincoln affirmed, the government is of the the people, for the people, by the people why is that the people allow their government to pursue the outrageous destructive course it is following? The people get the government they deserve. Unfortunately the rest of the world has to be satisfied with the government the American people elect.

   The big-picture view I get from Chomsky is that most of the world (human/other) is currently under forced occupation (especially in the U.S.). By “U.S.,” I mean big business and its shadow called “government”–together known to you and I as “Master.” The occupied slaves who fight the wars and line the coffers are you and I. But as long as you and I exist, everything can change. We can revolt. From plantation to Wall Street to 6 feet under. Let’s kill the corporations.
