   Krugman is right on. Why on eqrth does the rightwing corporate media believe the entire story on Iran? We all saw the so-called “proof” that Colin Powell showed to the UN propr to our illegal invasion of Iraq. Cheney wants eternal war. I believe this is so that just prior to the 2008 election, Cheney will have Bush declare martial law and halt the election so they can stay in office and continue to enrich the have mores.

   Dick Cheney is evil he has been trying to destroy the constitution of the United States since he was in the Ford administration. He and Bush should be impeached then tried as war criminal’s.Bush/Cheney control the media and that is the first step to a dictatorship. The democrat’s are a bunch of coward’s. I don’t think they realize that the people gave them the majority last november so they would get rid of Bush/Cheney and they are so gutless they won’t cut off the fund’s for the war and bring our troops home NOW.Impeachment is the only thing that will save this republic.Bush Cheney have broken every law they don’t like including international law. They should be behind bars so they can’t damage the world any more than they already have

   WAR RESOLUTION
   Even with our limited information on this war, it is all to evident that our legislators erred when they granted this unlearned and arrogant administration the authority undertake this ill conceived war.

   The weapons inspectors were there and we had contained Saddam. The resulting “civil war” and chaos had been predicted by many informed experts, and should have been obvious–but their advice was ignored. One can only imagine the extent of disaster if Saddam had unleashed some biological, chemical, or primitive nuclear weapons on our troops during the invasion.

   After nearly four years, the only rational option left now is for congress to seize the war powers from the president–and then pursue a logical course to conclude this misadventure. This would include not only recognition of the recent advisory commissions recommendations (which the administration ignored); but also curbing profiteering, and promoting measures for energy conservation and global warming mitigation to reduce our dependance on their oil–and regain some worldwide trust.

   The alternative is to permit continuation of this disastrous quagmire, while risking a war with Iran and destabilization of the entire area– and further damaging our international stature.

   Consider the hypocrisy of faulting the Iranians for their involvement in Iraq. How dare they meddle in our affairs? After all, the invasion and occupation of Iraq is our business so by what right does Iran interfere?

   Thank you Paul Krugman. This midget-minded maniac in the White House is propogating lies about Iran just as he did about Iraq. When will our Congress, which is supposed to be one of the components of “balance of power,” step in and put an end to this lunacy? How many more young American and foreign lives must be lost? I find it ironic that Congress was going to impeach Clinton for an indescretion (which he shouldn’t have done) and let Bush off the hook for this terrible loss of life.
   Keep up the good work.

   Ok folks, I know some Iranian people who fled to the US when the Shah was deposed. They are good Americans, and hard working. They reminded me that the majority of the population in Iran is fighting aged men between 25 and 40; and the terrain over there is similar (at least in the northern half) to Afghanistan, i.e. very mountainous and difficult; last the population in Iran is about twice that of Iraq. This all boils down to the fact that we would have to send ground troops in to subjugate them, and that would take roughly 10 times the number we sent to Iraq.

   With the latest Bushit information coming to the fore in the Scooter Libby trial, the whole administration should be impeached. What would the American response be to a president who quotes the Bible but doesn’t believe in it beyond it being a tool to control the religious masses?

   The problem with stupid people being in power, is they are not good judges of character (remember W saying of Putin roughly: I looked into his soul and he’s a good man?) and can be swayed by BS (also remember if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS).

   Our electoral system has not been fixed yet and has been obviously and visibly broken since 2000. What happens if he starts a war right before he is to leave office in an attempt to claim dictatorial powers? He has already undermined the constitution and shown contempt for its proclamations. Why think this is beyond his limited mental capacity?

   Bush is obviously getting an ear full from people who read and believed some of the BS in the book series: The late great planet earth…especially “the final chapter” where the author interprets revelations to be an alliance between Russia and Iran in the final fight in the Jordan valley with nuclear weapons.

   OK so now our stupid president must surely believe he has a real dilema: to attack and hopefully occupy Iran so the “end times” war can’t happen (and yes, it is apparent by his actions that he most likely believes in revelations, at least as another tool of control over other people), but this action would surely start just such a war. Or does he wait until Iran has nukes and goes after Israel anyway?

   The latest on the news is some kind of proof that the latest IED’s are being made to pierce armor. And the proof is because of numbers written on some munitions? If we have people who would paint a spy plain, then we have people who would make these very weapons and claim they came from Iran. Dead people can’t tell us that weapons were planted on them after they were killed. Also, I could make armor piercing explosive devices with access to the munitions already over there and a lathe…and that lathe need not be anything beyond a 40+ year old machine that can’t hold anything closer than .005″ tolerances!

   We constantly hear that a troop build up is needed. Why? Because the left hasn’t provided an alternative (thanks Jon Kyl you dumb-ass for that logical fallacy!). Here’s a couple of viable alternatives for you then:

   • We start an Apollo project for energy independance in this country to get off the oil within 10 years.
   • We revert to the tax structure that was around when Eisenhower was president and our country had a higher moral standard(90% upper tax bracket) and use the funding to build up the infrastructure that we destroyed (even those we didn’t) in attacking Iraq to buy their friendship and loyalty. It was on NPR just this morning that once we fixed up a road over there it went from seeing 50 IED’s to 0, the drive dropped from 12 hours to 2, and the Iraqi people are protecting it instead of 1000 of our troops. Hey it IS an alternative to a troop build-up.

   We can also pay back the funding of the Social Security system that we all borrowed from over the last 3 decades with a small portion of that wealth too. This is a debt that is owed, and if we allow our greedy politicians to subvert and renege on this debt, then why are we all still paying the bankers for our houses and credit cards? They certainly didn’t build any part of mine!

   How have countries of Scandinavia, Switzerland and other social democracies managed to wed capitalism and socialism into a stable, beneficial yet dynamic relationship that does not degenerate into monopoly or hegemony? Does exceptionalism keep us from learning about and adopting their methods?

   “Irrational” is an understatement in this case, i.e., gearing up for war against Iran. Our Gearless Leaders seem committed beyond all thought of consequences to WWIII. The only force driving them that makes sense under these extreme cirumstances must be religious. These madfolk are trying to bring down the KKKristian Apocalypse. That’s the only consequence they’re considering.
   And, for crissakes, they’re not invulnerahle and they’re not all-powerful. The Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Democratic Leadership aren’t helpless and they aren’t powerless. Drag the warmongering bastards out of power NOW.
