   Agreed: the mainstream media has refused to learn, just as our president (small p), that war is not the answer. Rather, another war will fix the last little problem. Sounds like the alcoholic self-talk, late at night, or early morning.
   Time for an intervention: Impeachment! Then peace will come.

   As surprising as it sounds, either the media has failed to learn from the past six years how easily it can be USED by the administration, or it doesn’t really care.

   I haven’t quite figured out which is which.

   This new breed of “news person” certainly does not take the old hard and fast rules of reporting seriously.

   As a news person, all you have is your credibility, and once you have lost that you are just a GOSSIP or a blowhard.

   These days we have WAY TOO MANY of both.

   I looked and looked for any names regarding the Intel on Sunday on the internet. I turned to CNN TV. There on Wolf Blitzer, Michael Ware was in Baghdad, holding up two round metal parts of a IED that was made only last year in Iran. He was really creepy. He was moving about excitedly, going on and on about the discovery, and really was inappropriate in his strident reportage. I couldn’t help but think he was probably paid well for that little show. It was appalling!

   For anyone that as been paying any attention to the ranting of mainstream media knows that if it every had any credibility except perhaps for reporting on Michael Jackson or the local cat saved from a tree story, it as lost it.
   Most of us understands that it is more about selling you a line, then presenting you with facts.
   I do disagree with Antonio on one thing.. They are not caught up in the spin cycle. They are the spin cycle!
   Their job should be to cover our leaders, not cover for them!
   For those that are perhaps unaware of it, Google operation “mockingbird”.
   The biggest lie is that we have a free press!

   Maybe it’s time to confront the sponsors of the network news-maybe not for false advertising but for sponsoring “false news!”
   They know now that they are hip-deep in the sham, as if they didn’t know it before, and it’s their money produceing this crap!

   The brightest light in these dark times has been the artist.
   Whether musicians, comedians, actors, producers, they are at the forefront of educating the masses through song, film, and humor.
   The Good Shepherd is a must see for every citizen of the world. The Dixie Chicks are the Harriet Tubman of today, showing us the way to courage and emancipation of our tongues.
   Jon Stewart, Al Franken, and now Colbert and Oberman awaken the senses of those numbed with all the noise of competitive sports, sex and fast food.
   News organizations as we previously knew them were flawed, with their disintegration, we see it in the pieces that are falling all around us. Perhaps a good thing that they cease to exist as the real news vehicle.
   Art is replacing it for distributing the truth of what we see going on around us. And it moves us, enlightens us, and perhaps we are evolving even in these dark times.

   Ever hear Jon Stewart, Al Franken, Bill Maher or other progressive jews criticize Israel’s part in this mess? I love them, but I haven’t. With much of the media under their control wouldn’t MSM jews reactionary about Israel want to have such progressives as leaders to set the agenda? One that exonerates the Likudniks by staying silent, or glorifies them like Bill Maher did when he had Netanyahu on his show? Why not give jewish critics like Chomsky or Zinn their own show?

   Even with our limited information on this war, it is all to evident that our legislators erred when they granted this unlearned and arrogant administration the authority to embark on and perpetuate this disastrous misadventure.

   The weapons inspectors were there and we had contained Saddam. The resulting “civil war” and chaos had been predicted by many informed experts, and should have been obvious–but their advice was ignored. One can only imagine the extent of disaster if Saddam had unleashed some biological, chemical, or primitive nuclear weapons on our troops during the invasion.

   After nearly four years, the only rational option left now is for congress to seize the war powers from the president–and then pursue a logical course to conclude this misadventure. This would include not only recognition of the recent advisory commissions recommendations (which the administration ignored) but also curbing profiteering, promoting measures for energy conservation and global warming mitigation to reduce our dependance on their oil–and regain some worldwide trust.

   The alternative is to permit continuation of this disastrous quagmire, while risking a war with Iran and destabilization of the entire area– and further damaging our international stature.

   The popular media is a commercial venture whose soul was bought and paid for years ago. And/or, the popular media has been co-opted by those it should be covering objectively and doesn’t seem to realize it. And/or the popular media is not nearly as intelligent as it thinks it is. At any rate, we are being ill served by the popular media.
