    Ditto. !
It’s clear the Dems are not “emboldened.”

“Is an individual snowflake responsible for the avalanche?” (forget where I recently read that.)

When Bush says that we are a country at war, and that this is his Pearl Harbor, and that he has no intention on staying in Iraq…well first of all’we’ are not at war…we are in an occupation of a country, AND “major combat operations have ended”…so let’s go home then. And why do we have an American Embassy in Iraq the size of Vatican City that can be seen from outer space if he has no intention of staying in Iraq??? Our government has been overrun by those who will kill for money. What will our new Congress really do, when they are all being paid off in one way or another. And they are. It’s how they exist in Washington. Maybe what American’s need to do is to offer our leaders more money than the lobbyists do, and then we will really get what we want…How sad.

So the Democrats have a public relations problem.

There solution is to allow tens, hundreds or thousands of troops and Iraqi civilians to be killed or maimed so they can save face, as well as their high-paying jobs, in the face of an illegal and immoral war that was perpetrated on lies.

    Gee, that sounds just swell.

    Welcome to hell.

At least the Dems leadership has a real plan to block Bush & his neocons but how many more American troops & Iraqis will be kill or injured and how many more billions of tax money will be wasted before we stop Bush-Cheney imperialism? Finally something more effective than nonbinding resolutions that the Repubs. have so far blocked frfomj the timid Dems.

Years ago, at a back yard Tai Chi class, while straining every muscle in my body in the unsuccessful effort to invade the space of my instructor by battering my way past his limp forearm, he smiled at me and said: “Do you know what I’m doing?” Perspiration was pouring down my back. “No,” I said. “What are you doing?” He said “I’m resting.”

Do you know what the Bush administration and its corporate sponsors are doing while congressional democrats and the liberal blogs and 70% of the electorate and virtually the whole goddamn world beyond the borders of Teletubbyland are clamoring against this piratical and obviously bogus “war?” They are tossing out simplistic buzz phrases like “Support the Troops” and “Cut and Run” and “Emboldening the Terrorists” (one could go on with this list), and these phrases utterly paralyze us. When Pelosi & Murtha finally manage to dig their way out from under the charge of underfunding our brave soldiers, the boys in Bush’s backroom will just cook up another verbal anathema and we will all be stymied again.

That, my friends, is the true exercise of power. Trimtabbing the surly masses. And until some brave Galahad arrives on the scene to whack through the linguistic bullshit that protects these flies, until somebody not yet on our horizon manages to stand back and speak the truth, they will do as they please. Easily.

I swear Karl Rove couldn’t have done it better! He must be there in the background.

Yes, they got rid of the “non-binding” sh**. That part is good.

But they substituted a compromise which holds no water at all. Cut a little bit and see what happens … “if this…” and “maybe that…” So Clinton may be interested, so Reid might be interested, etc.

In addition, they got a few Republicans to sign on. (I’m not a bit surprised) and they got MoveOn to sign on. (I did NOT donate for them to promote a compromise!)

Am I angry? You bet I am!!!

As I said, Karl Rove must be guiding them.

  7. Rhite February 15th, 2007 3:19 am

And I can see Dick Cheney looking down from a high window and grinning ….. like a cheshire cat!

  8. plugger61 February 15th, 2007 8:00 am

It sounds to me like “let’s just drag our feet till the 2008 elections and then we can use this whole mess to propel ourselves to the White House” Politics as usual! We need representation that really represents. Leaders who really “feel” for the people who are dying on a daily basis, rather than just spout homilies to attract attention and support for their bid for another office or another term in office. Don’t play games with our lives and futures…do the job you were elected for, now!

I watched this guy, the current actor holding the office of president of the USA on CSPAN last night. I am convinced that he is puppet placed by a controling force.

We, the People of America. have mandated a supposedly new group of representatives to Congress to bring Integrity and Honor back into the political process.

The “Troops”, like Lt. Watada, would all leave Iraq or would never have gone if given the choice. So let’s cut to the chase.

The pawns in this Game are the Troops,Iraqi citizens, and the American Taxpayer.

This is not a War but an occupation in an oil rich nation that Oilmen have decided to invade. The quickest solution is to stop purchasing oil and defense stocks

How many of our Congressmen and Senators, have portfolios diversed in Oil and Defense stock? They, The new Congress has the Constitutional authority to end this fiasco. Yet, they want, because the returns are to great. “Show Me The Money”

The Soul Of This Great Nation Has Been Sold For A Price.

    Fed Up!

  10. ballerina February 15th, 2007 10:27 am

i watched him too and wanted to reach through the screen and slap that stupid smirk right off his face..and what’s with all the cutsey stuff with the white house press corps..and they were eating it all up..it made me sick…we’re talking about life and death and they all act like they are at a g-d cocktail party…..the problem with the situation is the two party system which has been completely corrupted by the corporate elite..we haven’t had democracy in america for decades now and it may well be too late to ever get it back…if there were any chance that Bill Moyers could be cloned to fill all the elected and unelected positions in the government, then maybe we could get ourselves out of the mess we’ve gotten ourselves into…(just a little feel-good fantasy i indulge in from time to time)…other than that, the only thing i can think of is to emigrate to where there is a functioning democracy..venezuela comes to mind

  11. colleen February 15th, 2007 10:32 am

If the US is to be seen as a nation of laws not of men then there must be impeachment hearings.

Isn’t it obvious that Clinton was hounded while in office and then finally impeachment was started because he lied under oath about legal sexual relations.

Now we have an administration where people around the nation are calling for an impeachment and want some accountability for the lying done that gave the US a disastrous war.

Either there is accountability or the system fails.

Without some accountability, everyone around the world, with half a brain, will know the US system is built on lies.

How can there be trust in a system with such fundamental lies?

The US is an oligarchy and the wealthy and powerful don’t want an impeachment.

  12. Memory_Hole February 15th, 2007 11:58 am

These cowardly Democrats are pathetic. Kucinich and Feingold are right. The Kucinich plan cuts off funding now, or when the appropriation bill comes up soon, and uses funds already in the pipeline to protect existing troops. That’s what we should demand to stop this illegal, immoral war. That’s how you respond to the claim “You’re abandoning the troops.” But the spineless Dems like Pelosi can’t do that. I’m with Feingold, who voted against the non-binding resolution against Bush’s escalation. Why take rhetorical stands that don’t make any difference? Smart people know that WHATEVER any Congressperson does to end the war will be met with the Republican charge, “But you’re abandoning the troops!” So why not just bite the bullet and respond with principled resistance? Instead, we get the same tired hand-wringing and mealy-mouthed speeches from the DLC Democrats, making them look like the unprincipled cowards they are.

    Slow bleed.

Ya know that`s going to be painless.

“It`s the end of the world as we know it.
It`s the end of the world as we know it.
    And I feel fiiiine”

  14. Roomwithaview February 15th, 2007 7:33 pm

How about blanketing America with Lite-Brites as a means to subtly persuade the masses to join the bold democratic initiative.

  15. Rob February 15th, 2007 10:41 pm

The Pilosi-Reid procrastinating strategy of starving the commander-in-chief’s warring occupation of Iraq as long as the incumbents are in the oval office is guaranteed to be a bucket brigade to put out a nation-wide inferno. If Pilosi-Reid and their colleagues mean business they need to start impeachment at once. The continuing high crime is the enormous and ghastly abuse of official power of misleading the country into this idiotic war. True, it may not succeed but it will put down a marker for the voters in the primaries and final 2008 elections. It will be difficult enough for the new Congress to wind down this nonsense and safely extricate our military forces with a new friendly ticket at the military helm.

  16. gsemsel February 16th, 2007 12:30 pm

The Democrats, put into office by an optimistic electorate, have quickly proven themselves incapable and spineless. Forget these guys. It’s time to turn our energies to others.
