   Mr. Herbert presents an interesting picture in describing the central issue of our time. What if, he wonders, the Bush administration runs its course like a case of measles and yet the country continues to be diseased? This would indicate that it is our national character rather than this particular pack of neo-con idiots that is to blame for our woes. He goes on to suggest that the solution is effective democracy – the taking back of the country by the people. The supposition is that the majority of us are not warlike, not unilateralist, not unintelligent, not elitist. I’m not sure that’s true.

   What if, by some social gestalt, we actually do get the leaders we deserve? What if these flies really are our reflection in the mirror, the inevitable karmic expression of our collective paranoia?

   They are a bit unpopular right now, though probably not because the country has suddenly grown wise or evolved a moral dimension. They won a popular election in 04, after their hideous credentials were on full display.

   My worry is that while the American people may have lost control of their minds, they have never lost control of their country. Democracy is not the answer if the enemy is us.

   Senator Dodd finds our madness understandable in light of the fact that we’ve had a bad scare. How dangerous would we become given a scare on the scale of, say, the London blitz or an African genocide or the bombing of Beirut or any of the vastly more deadly and frightening invasions and outrages that blight the world beyond the frontiers of Teletubbyland. Our forebears faced more palpable dangers while they were constructing the Constitution to begin with.

   I agree this is the central question:

   “The question is not so much whether a Republican or a Democrat takes the White House in the next election; it’s whether the American people can take back their country.”

   its answer depends very much on how willing americans are to seeing just exactly who and what kind of people we are dealing with. its not just checks and balances they have fucked with. the bush administration was behind the attacks on the world trade center. what keeps people from seeing the obvious are the staggeringly horrendous implications of that observation.

   we can’t get our country back until we really understand who stole it from us.

   Bush Cheney, can not be allowed to be above the law. The contrived Fear they operate under must be shown, for the falseness, and Lies they have, and are hiding behind. The truth will stand on its own legs. This is why immediate investigations, must be started and carried out into, ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
   1.The Run up to the War In Iraq. (Cheney’s cooking of the intelligence, which has led to us invading a sovern nation.) He absolutely must be held accountable and tried for the deaths of over 3,000 troops and hundred of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens.
   2. The worlds biggest theft, that the Republicans in the Senate and white house were responsible for, must be made public! Bremmers Testimony was a JOKE. Its time to hold these Scoundrels accountable now.
   3. Put impeachment on the table today, If not now, when. The Crimes these bastards scumbags have perpetuated against all American’s and the Worlds, are no small matter. It is time to bring Charges now. If the The Press won’t publish the facts they should be pointed out as the Terriorist sympthizers they are.

   Michael Boyter suggests that impeachment should be on the table. My feeling is yes, but. . A majority of the House can impeach, but in the Senate it takes two-thirds to convict and remove from office.That can’t happen until at least a sizable number of Republicans come on board. My tentative suggestion would be:
   1. Hold hearings on the subject.
   2. Don’t just target Bush-Cheney. Give warning that all high officials who carry out illegal actions, such as bombing Iran, are also subject to impeachment.
   3. Hearings may build up sufficient chjanges in public opinion so that actual removal from office would be possible.
   4. Impeachment has its dangers. For one thing, it could take up too much of the Senate’s time. Also, the Democrats should not get too far ahead of public opinion. (Probably no danger of that; they are too far behind at the moment.)
   What do others think?

   I firmly believe our country has been taken over by a criminal conspiracy. The republicanazi party is not a political party – they are an organized crime syndicate whose sole purpose is the enrichment of the already-rich at the expense of those who have so much less. The elections of 2000, 2002, and 2004 were crimes against democracy, and heinous crimes against the people of the United States and of the world. The evil men behind had their war agenda in place, along with their thug, Scalia, and his weaselly co-conspirators. These people should be prosecuted. War profiteers should be publicly hanged, and not with a nice hangman’s noose. They should be hanged by a rope or piano wire so they kick and struggle for a long time until their miserable lives are over. Aside from all these traitorous assholes, I am totally against capital punishment. In Bush and Cheney’s case, I can easily make exception.
