   So what else is new? We’ve known this to have been a likely scenario for over 12 months.

   US warplanes and weaponry, Israeli pilots, US “permission”. A joint declaration of war.

   Israel will engage in a violent attack, Iran will, as is their right under the UN charter, retaliate in self defense, Israel will then say “see we told you Iran is the next Nazi state”, then, we will all be expected to rally behind poor, oppressed, Israel…

   What kind madness is this?

   Clearly the neo-fascist plan is an Israeli strike on Iran, followed by an Iranian response, followed by U.S. intervention against Iran to “protect” Israel. It is doubtful Democrats in Congress will dare stand up against the money and media power if the Israeli lobby. They will dance to the fascist tune again.

   Israel is far more danger to the world than Iran. Were anyone ever able to nuke it off the face of the planet it would be a good thing overall. Go ahead call me anti Semitic, you only make yourself a fool.

   What i want to see is if any of the shy little pussy cats (Helen Thomas honorable exception) caled “the White House Press Corps” will dare to ask either “Toady” Snow or some other admistration official for a response as to the authenticity of such a claim.

   Follow up question is: “Would such a course of conduct (giving permission to overfly Iraq to an Israeli air strike)constitute an act of war against Iran on the part of the US?

   I know they will lie and later justify such on grounds of national security, but for the record it would be nice to call their bluff before rather than after it happens.

   Two comments. 1) If this happens, both the world & the United States as we once knew them are finished. There will be a descent to a new Dark Age.

   2) To expatincebu above: I don’t neccesarily disagree all that much with you. But doesn’t the same logic you’re using there also mean that “were anyone ever able to nuke THE USA off the face of the planet it would be a good thing overall”?

   Since when does Israel need “permission” from US to do anything? This has probably all been arranged/ready to execute.And the first steps toward the Dark Ages have already been taken.

   Anyone notice that the so-called sovereign country of Iraq who actually owns the airspace that the Israelis need to fly over are never mentioned, never even mentioned as being consulted about what is being done in their country in their name?

   Shows you what Bush and Co really think about Iraq and their sovereignty.

   Let me underline what Lobo says and stress a slightly different angle: If Iraq is a soverign nation with a consitutionally elected government, why the f**k is Israel negotiating with the US for overflight rights?

   If the al-Maliki government is seen as powerless or irrelevant to the process, it will lose ALL of its little remaining credibility. And the security problem we have now will seem like nothing.

   This is more dangerous thinking, expat. I’m with you on other things, but this is just the sort of thinking that those who suggest we “bomb the towel-heads back into the stone age” expound. Since when is killing civilians an answer to anything?

   I know you’re fed up with the neocon Israeli/US fascists, as are most of us here, but please, let’s not descend into the same sewer hole as those we condemn.

   On another note…Israel’s unsurprising overt advances to use military force against its neighbors is proof positive of why the US is involved in the Middle East. We need to educate ourselves and others about the influence Israel has on US policy and how they do this (through operatives in high places). We need to put the spotlight on the fact that the people who twist US policy to the benefit of Israel over the US are traitors and should be dealt with as such, as should those in Congress who support them (or ARE them).

    It is we that pull the strings, not Israel. They do our dirty work so we can have plausible deniability. Yes, I think the plan is for Israel to do the initial attack on Iran but no one is fooled by this ouside of the US. We must make it clear to our misrepreentatives that this is not a viable scenario. I think the reaction among many Americans will be anger at Israel and anger directed at Jews but the real culprits are our own neocons.
