   Frank Rich seems to be operating on the assumption that the Bush administration was merely “asleep at the wheel.” Meanwhile, Zbigniew Brezezinski has already forecast that an attack on US soil would be blamed on the Iranians and used as a pretext for an attack–just as 911 was used for the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq. Could it perhaps be the case that 911 was an inside job, and that the Bush Administration is planning a similar “job” to justify the nuking of Iran? Is Al Queida independent of the US government, or, as Michel Chussodofsky often argues, an intelligence asset?

   Okay, I have three problems with Rich’s article:

   1. It is in the NYT which over the past 5 years has shown itself as much a tool of the neoconjob as any right wing rag. If Bushco is yelling wolf it has only been made more convincing by the NYT coverage.

   2. Nobody outside the White House seriously believes that all this violence and war has ever been about anything resembling Al Quaeda. It has always been about estabishing a more imperial presidency, control of world oil reserves, and neutralizing Iran 9first Afghanistan, then Iraq, now Iran and presto chango an imperial beast ready to strangle the world militarily and economically.

   3. The nexus that connects all of this is the near hypnotic stranglehold Israeli governments (first Labor, then Likkud and now Kadima)have had on U.S. Mideast foriegn policy. But I doubt that tghe Sulzburger family is going to let anyone on their newspaper dsicuss that one.

   Frank Rich’s article is right on! Bush is while, good at reading My Pet Goat to School Children, and that’s about it. It’s time to start the impeachment proceedings, Now!

   A lot of things just “don’t add up”. Why did we find it necessary to overthrow the Taliban in Afghanistan? Couldn’t we have done what the Taliban was overly reluctant to do: go to Tora Bora and catch this scalliwag? IF the Taliban put up a fight THEN we could have deposed them. Anyone here believe that the Taliban would have loyally gone to bat for Osama Bin Laden?

   poet, I think you are confusing the New York Post with the New York Times.

   Granted, some columnists in the Times have been guilty of megaphoning White House talking points, but as a rule they are a bit more skeptical than the Moonie’s Post.

   On the other hand, Cheney and other key liars in the administration have been doing their level best to enrage the most gullible among us into hatred of Iran in recent months.

   That can’t help but raise the hair on the backs of the necks of the skeptics and amatuer historians among us because it mimics their behavior before the invasion of Iraq.

   As long as there a few tons of cash left for Halliburton to steal, Cheney won’t be able to keep his forked tongue from wagging.
