Excellent article. Its telling when Gore, the man who was overseeing government for the past 8 years repeatedly warns against the presidents inevitable foriegn policy disaster and the pundits tear him apart and call him crazy.

Gore deserves a share of the governing policy of the Clinton administration without the stigma of personal moral failure of President Clinton himself. He remained a loyal and faithful supporter of the administration and conducted himself as a credit to our nation. Barack Obama would be a good vice presidential mate of a Gore campaign, using the charisma and fresh message of hope and a new way forward, as well as giving him a platform for needed international political experience. As for Cindy, it is difficult to speak truth to power, but almost impossible to clearly speak truth when in power. We need her voice speaking to power.

While I am doing creative visualization, I’m thinking that President Gore might appoint Dennis Kucinich, (the gentle, brave hobbit with his elven queen) to head up the new Department of Peace. James Webb, as Secretary of Defence, would work well alongside Kucinich.

Al Gore’s concern is that the war on Iraq has tarnished the image of our empire and divered it from its real work of moving forward the agenda of corporate-driven economic globalization.
Within its first few months, the war in Afghanistan killed more civilians than the September 11 attacks — and six years later U.S. bombs continue to kill Afghan civilians. Others fall victim to the new set of warlords we decided were preferable to the old ones. We are creating more “terrorists” by fighting in Afghanistan, just as we are in Iraq.
The fundamental premise of the “war against terrorism” is absurd. “Terrorism” is an arbitrary category to which we assign a broad set of tactics used by very different insurrectionary movements in very different circumstances.
As for the idea that the shining image of the U.S. is tarnished — ask a family in Iraq who watched a four year old die of leukemia from depleted uranium contamination while the sanctions kept their country from importing te drugs that could have saved her life, or a farming family in southern Colombia who lost their banana crops to U.S. crop fumigations and then were driven off their land by death squads linked to the U.S.-backed military, or a family living on the Danube downstream from the Serbian chemical plants that NATO bombed what they thought of the U.S. during the Clinton years.
Yes, Bush, Cheney and the gang should be on trial in the Hague. But so should Clinton, Gore, Albright, and their cohorts (including Robert Wilson and Rand Beers.)
Republicand aren’t the problem. Imperialism is.
Hearing the recap of Al Gore’s reaction to the Bush imperialistic gang in action makes one wonder, “So, how do we get our country back?” The idea that they and their supporters act out of ignorance is a dangerous one. Their greedy, self-serving goals, with no regard of the cost to others, have so far been met based upon the approach, “say what you want to be true, say it again, have everyone else say it until it is held to be true by the majority.” We need to keep the voice of opposition to these crazies alive and LOUD. Help!
Attack on Al Gore 2/26/07
The Bush team’s use of misinformation, wrongly passing blame, and character assassination to reap political gain and conceal their sellouts and neglect has always been their standard operating procedure. They exploited the 9/11 event buy passing blame to Clinton even though they had ignored warnings from Clinton’s team. They even branded Senator Cleland, a triple Vietnam amputee, as unpatriotic for supporting this investigation into 9/11–even showing his picture with bin Laden.–and the list goes on.
Their attack on Al Gore could only be expected. One can only imagine how much better off the world would be if the five supreme court justices had not placed politics ahead of principle by planting this irresponsible and inept person in office, after the voters had chosen Al Gore.
