   Klare’s article remionded me of part of the Nobel acceptance lecture delivered by British playright Harold Pinter two years ago:

   I know that President Bush has many extremely competent speech writers but I would like to volunteer for the job myself. I propose the following short address which he can make on television to the nation. I see him grave, hair carefully combed, serious, winning, sincere, often beguiling, sometimes employing a wry smile, curiously attractive, a man’s man.

   Does anyone think that China and Russia will sit by and let the U.S. take over their ally and secure ALL the strategic oil reserves in the gulf for itself?

   I believe an attack on Iran could likely mean WW3, and the U.S. will surely lose.

   There is an easier route than that expatincebu–

   All China has to do is dump all its dollar reserves and that will start an avalanche. Iran then sinks something to bottle up the Persian Gulf (and the two carrier task forces presently there) and OPEC in retaliation changes its medium of exchange from dollars to Euros.    If liberals would put computer generated signs in their car back windows saying “Cheney Ordered 911 to Start the Wars and Make Bush Dictator.” something good might finally happen. It doesn’t matter whether or not this is true. It should put the crooks and traitors on the defensive.

   Whether the Bushies realize it or not — and they probably do — war with Iran is almost certain to result in the use of nuclear weapons.

   Bush has frittered away our once might Army and Marine Corps in his senseless war in Iraq to the point that it can no longer fight itself out of that poor country, let alone take on Iran. Iran can choke off the only sea route to Kuwait, the only supply port for our troops in Iraq. Those troops will be helpless against the far larger number of Iraqis, even with our air power.

   There’s a would be a backup plan, of course: nuclear weapons. And even if the Bushies are hesitant to use them — they won’t be — public pressure to use them would be overwhelming.

   The fallout from the nuclear radiation will cover a vast area downwind, including over our own troops and allies in Afghanistan. Pakistan, India, China and elsewhere would also be severely affected. Although the wind normally flows from west to east, wind shifts to the west are not too uncommon; that could send the radiation back over our own forces in Iraq.

   Are the Bushies too stupid to realize the implications? Or mad enough not to care?

    An interesting article posted at AntiWar.com written by Jon Basil Utley, associate publisher of American Conservative magazine. (http://www.antiwar.com/utley/?articleid=10477)

    Utley lists 12 unintended consequences of Bush attacking Iran including the Iranians blocking the Straights of Hormuz which would lead, in turn, to a worldwide depression.

    But on the other hand Utley says the Republican Party would lose power and credibility for a generation. And the Christian Right would all but disappear from the political scene forever.

    So you know, maybe a war with Iran wouldn’t be all bad.

    God forbid anyone should attempt to replace the western powers as the “grandmasters of regional instability”!
    One thing the western powers have always feared is Arab nationalism.
    So, have spent their political and military resources keeping them divided, going way back to the Eisenhower doctrine and before.
    This the way Robert Fisk puts it “they would like freedom but I also think they would like another type of freedom.
    And that is freedom from us”.

    Bush is a mental-minded-midget and Cheney is an over-the-hill old fart. These two are running what used to be the most magnificant country on Earth. If Congress lets Bush initiate hostilities with Iran, then we can probably sit idly by and watch both China and Russia jump down our throats. Have the stupid bastards in DC thought of that?

    So the most magnificent country on Earth is ruled by two morons to the total detriment of Constitution? This statement by definition is oxymoronic. Author of this line is either blind or totally intoxicated by the worst virus of nationalism.
    The USA would have been a great (not the great) country if not for worshipping money to the extent of self-destruction. But so would Soviet Union, if not for worshipping Joseph Stalin.
    Alas, worshipping ideals, while ignoring actuality, is too common a human fallacy.

    Bush and Cheney are always three steps ahead in their immorality. We know they have a hidden agenda to take over all of the Middle EAst and there is nothing we can do about it. They override Congress and have implemented laws to protect them from impeachment. Does anyone have a plan on how to stop these crooks from engaging the world in nuclear devastation since Congress stands by twiddling their thumbs?
