exactly right. why should the people of the united states continue to put up with this criminal government, which is bent upon such a destructive, expensive, unnecessary path?
The neocon junta presnts a clear and present danger to the US and world. They have perjured themselves to Congress, aided and abetted a host of criminals, and are up to their necks in racketeering and outright theft. They continue to undermine the Constitution they are sworn to defend. Any member of Congress refusing to press charges and work for their removal is in collusion.
right, right and right……….
This administration is dangerous! Chaney is a psychopath and Bush is delusional. Does anyone else feel as powerless as I do? We have some Senators and Congresspeople who seem to be as opposed to the policies and actions of this administration, but what are they doing besides discussing whether to discuss it? We need to act, but what can we do? That’s not a rhetorical question, I’d like to know.
I feel the same way, terremar. But I think we have been lulled into the belief that we are impotent. I would imagine that a few million of us standing in front of the White House might do the trick. Whatever, we need to simply get loud, demand action from those we just elected and settle for nothing less than the removal of these thugs from power.
Then we should go after the cabal that has had their ear, from within the government to the think tanks and media.
No more mea culpas, no more free rides.
For whatever reason I am reminded of the old TV show WKRP when one of the DJ’s got the bright idea of telling everybody in the audience to drop thier garbage off at City Hall to show thier disgust over stalled negotions of a labor settlement.
Instead of occupying their offices why not drop off a bag of the stinkiest, nastiest, garbage you can collect at your local congress person’s hometown office? Better than that, put just enough weight in it that anyone trying to lift it would spill all of its contents out of the bottom–liquids can do a good job of this. That would be one way to raise a stink over their indifference to the maniacs in the White House.
Why-
The reason we all might feel helpless is the media. The reason there is not even an utterance of impeachment is the media. The reason we went to war is the___. The is not a free or even half heartedly independent media in this country. When GE (who make jet engines) owns NBC, then of course there is a bias. The biggest joke of all is that they (our free and independent press) can frame the discussion. They can set the limits to what is considered liberal or conservative, they give us the terms and definitions. For example, when the supposed other party swept the most recent elections, immediately there were pundits (whatever those are) who stated that only the most liberal of liberals would even think about calling for impeachment. At that point the debate and term were framed. I could go on and on because I attempted a thesis on the subject, but sadly, for the most part I am preaching to the choir.
The only thing that will stop this war, and I really hate to put it in words, would be a major loss of U.S. troops, along the lines of the barracks bombing in Beirut in the eighties. It is so pathetic that the daily losses, even the helicopters going down, hardly register a blip with the American public. Not to mention the carnage the Iraqi people must endure. We have become immune to the horror.
STOP THE WAR, STOP THE LYING, IMPEACH BUSH, JAIL CHENEY, and then, of course, you have a whole bunch more that will take their place (including democrats like Hillary) to continue the carnage.
Until we start making people accountable for their actions, it won’t change.
And what the democrats want us to do is to compromise. What that means is accepting the war and not holding anyone accountable. I will not compromise, I will not vote for the lesser of two evils. Even Kucinich put party politics ahead of principle when he dropped out of the race days before the last presidential convention.
I know it is hard to challenge the status quo, especially when so many are tied economically to the current war driven economy, but stand up we must. By mutual support, we can all stand. But not enough are standing yet to make a change.
When they ask you to be quiet, start talking. When they ask you to sit down, stand up.
peace
Thank you Mr. Nader.
Of course you are correct. Bush and Cheney have been trampling on the U.S. constitution for years.
It’s way past time that the America people wake up, defend the constitution and protect our national security. I demand that Bush and Cheney resign.
Right on, Ralph! I’m calling my congressmen right now.
This is one of the most impressive collections of blogs I’ve read. Beginning with “mary lou”, and on down to “bwallace”, these articulate and well-informed bloggers are a sound to behold! Yes…sound, because we can’t see them. But we feel their compassion…their well-placed anger and frustration.
The Nobel prize-winning British playwright, Harold Pinter, and Bush critic extraordinaire, is scheduled to appear on the Charley Rose show on PBS this evening (Thursday, March 1).
