   “But what Americans need to realize is that the whole concept of attacking a country in order to remake it into America’s image is horribly wrong and counterproductive in the extreme — not just its faulty execution.”

   There is more than the need to realize it. Action needs to be taken to prevent it from happening again. That means impeaching Bush and Cheney, and prosecuting the neocons involved in drumming up the false intelligence that was responsible for getting us into this misbegotten war.

   Without forcing those responsible to take responsibility and pay the consequences for their actions we are most assuredly in for a repeat in the future. Especially when the consquences of ones actions are to receive cushy private sector and government jobs along with the award of the freedom medal.

   That is akin to making a bank robber the President of the bank he robbed as his punishment.

   Well said, Lobo, but I have never been able to understand how this administration gets away with taking no responsibility for its multitude of disastrous blunders and misjudgements. The whole conservative agenda seems to rest on notions of personal responsibility and retributive justice against those who would dare break the law, such as undocumented workers, women who want to terminate pregnancy (a sure sign of trying to escape god’s plan for women), and other “offenders” whose misdeeds have caused far less suffering than those of Bush.

   Welcome to Hypocrisy 101 and America’s New Class system, where only the “little people” are expected to live up to the expectations set by those who believe they are our betters.

   In every case in history that I know of where there has been a ruling class, the ruling class has always felt that the rules didn’t apply to them.
