   This is a great article, The most important point Elizabeth De La Vega Makes is that if, we are still an open and fuctioning Democracy, we need open and Public hearings on the mis conduct of this administration. We need to let our congressmen and Senators, know as voting members of our Democratic Process, WE DEMAND OPEN AND PUBLIC INVESTIGATION, of the actions of this administration, leading up to the War In Iraq

   Yes, an excellent article. But the ‘voting members of the Democratic Process’ don’t NEED to demand anything of our congressman and women. THEY need to do their jobs, as sworn to, uphold and protect the constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC!

   And while they’re holding public hearings with full subpoena powers about the outing of Valerie Plame (the least of their crimes), perhaps Bush and Cheney could be asked, in public, just once, how it came to pass that two 110 story buildings turned into dust in midair from a slow burning fire?

   Hundreds of thousands of people are dead, most of them Iraqi civilians, billions of dollars are ‘missing’, habeas corpus has been overturned, the president and vice president have so far refused to be questioned under oath and Congress is standing by passive.

   Why?

   Most of the inhabitants of the West Wing should be in leg irons (or the guillotine) and Congress sputters.

   Why?

   Because, dear fellow Americans, they were, almost to a soul, complicit. We no longer live in a democracy and haven’t in a long time. The treasury has been raided, our economy is one sneeze away from total meltdown and it’s all been about oil and raw greed. The ‘American lifestyle’ that Dick Cheney was so keen on having be ‘nonnegotiable’ was his own. If Congress doesn’t act to have FULL AND OPEN hearings soon, the only thing that will save the American experiment is pitchforks and torches. And they’ll send our own children in khaki fatigues against us.

   The Pentagon can’t even protect itself, apparently. What makes you think they can, or even care about, protecting YOU?
