   Sorry, but these old rock lytics seem appropriate comment to this story…

   This is the worst example of “saving face” bullshit that I have ever read. This piece of bullshit is a total “retreat” for the American; the Iranians never took the USA very seriously, at any time whatsoever, that the USA has the wherewithal to successfully invade Iran; and it is obvious that they never feared the USA at all. It is for this reason that Iran conducted the series of war games. They just treated the Americans with the contempt that the USA deserves. They put on the war games to tell the USA that “we Iranians want and wait for the Americans to land on our shores”. That statement is not one of fear.

   The Iranians were not speculating that the USA will or will not attack; they were merely preparing their response, like anyone would when anticipating for an attack. The two USA carrier groups did not FRIGHTEN the Iranians at all. Having said that, how could it be relevent to claim that the appearance of the carrier groups could ever cause the USA to gain leverage ? This claim is to save face because it has finally dawned on the US Administration that a mere air-invasion will not cause any appreciable gamage to the norale of the Iranian people. I will say that any air-attack on Iranian will merely serve to alienate the Iranian people further from the Americans. It will merely steel the resolve of the Iranians.

   The USA is not doing the Iranians any favours by CONDI’s call for the participation of Iran and Syria to the conference. The participation of these two key Arab brothers is essential to the success of the conference; without them such a conference will be meaningless. If anything it is the Iranians and the Syrians who show face to the USA in accepting the USA’s invitation, no matter that the USA presents this conference as being organised by the “Iraqi govenment”.

   This American retreat is the first crack in the mirror of the American myth, that the USA is the sole superpower. The USA has lost any credibility that they thought wrongly that they had. JUST A MYTH !

   Bush must know if he invaded Iran he would be impeached the next day with at least a 60% vote in Congress.

   other minor points:

   …Walsh called mines “an offensive terrorist type of weapon.”

   I love the irony! I can’t help but think back to Ronald Reagan’s “glorious” career. I wonder, was the mining of Nicaraguan harbor and the destruction of a Portuguese ship an offensive terrorist action, too? The US illegally shut down the ports of Nicaragua– was that also terrorism?

   The same exact thought entered my mind when I read that “terrorist mines” remark…

   While the empire expands evermore and creates a trembling effect in the minds of most, others are waiting in silence to seize the opportunity. Centuries are short for those who wait. One should not fear the war drums, for the silent ones are patient and shall rebalance this earthly situation of seemingly doom and gloom.

   Yin & Yang isn’t just an eastern philosophy of life — it is life! I believe the proverb goes as follows:

   One should keep his advantages concealed and study one’s opponent. For his advantages shall become his greatest weaknesses and one’s weaknesses shall become one’s greatest advantages.

   Life is bitter-sweet for some, while it is sweet n’ sour for others!! Ohmmmm!!
