   “Did you notice? While Cheney was abroad, others persuaded the president to send representatives next month to a conference in Baghdad, in which representatives of Syria and Iran also are expected to participate to discuss the situation in Iraq. In addition, foreign ministers of the same countries plan to meet in early April.”

   I don’t see where the U.S. had any choice but to attend these talks. The Iraqi government convened this meeting, not the U.S., and don’t forget that Cheney was only a conference call away. For the U.S. to have refused to attend would have simply made it look like a spoiled sulking child. Not that it isn’t mind you, but I don’t think it could afford to overtly look like one. If they refused to attend how could they cry “we tried diplomacy” before we attacked.

   The bigger question is what the U.S. will do while attending to keep up the appearance of diplomacy while still beating the drums for war.

   What does Mr. Graham think when he says that Iran may use a nuclear bomb against Isreal? Does he not realize that Iran would be completely destroyed by th U.S. if such an event were to take place. This would give Bush and company their best reason yet to attack Iran and start world war 3.

   The discrepancies (to put it mildly) in what the US Goverenment agagncies, congressmen, and senators are nothing new. I tremble with fear to think that Ray McGovern is one of the few who can see the lies and … The important point in the article is the conclusion: the whole region having no nuclear weapons … But of course when such a question comes up, Israel, conveniently is not located in that region, but somewhere in the West!
