   With Pelosi saying that “impeachment…is off the table”, it seems that the only thing our political leaders find on the table are plans for a first-strike nuclear attack on Iran.

   The bill for impeachment introduced in Washington did not carry. With 2008 clearly in the politicos eyes, their only interest to to avoid being called a terrorism-appeaser, anti-military or a faggot. As such, I am not holding my breath for Vermont.

   how come i can’t be reading this in tomarrows st. pete times? why is it that mr.nichols is only able to preach to the choir. most of my family and friends will not read this in tomarrows any-times usa and that’s a shame.

   my son has moved to europe recently and i’ve become ashamed and afraid of my country. it’s true patriots like mr. nichols and ms. sheehan who act and speak for our people and and our real freedom.

   i don’t think we have the luxiory of taking anything off the table, if torture and nukes are on the table, conniving to hide scientific evidence, leaking information about govt. people who are supposed to be protected, spying on the citizens, starting wars under false pretenses, conducting other wars that the citizens don’t even know about, etc. etc. are on the table, then impeachment should not be on the table but proceeding through congress, asap!

   Does anyone know what happened to similar proposals in Caliornia and New Mexico? I am sorry to hear that Washington didn’t pass their resolution–I heard some of the hearings and I had hoped it would have a chance.

   I was very much looking forward to seeing an article like this posted anywhere. It is most fitting for it to appear here at Common Dreams. Pelosi was trying NOT to draw republican fire when she got elected but used a bad choice of words when she said ‘Impeachment is off the table’. Now she is drawing fire from the people of this country who outnumber the republicans in office. Not her smartest move.

   I commend the state of Vermont and hopefully other states will follow suite and not except that ‘impeachment is off the table’.

   This administration is daring we the people to carry out our constitutional power of impeachment. I say we oblige them.
   Their are some that say that impeachment will harm the nation. I say that it just what the nation needs.
   I believe the people need it to begin the healing process as a nation, over this hijacking of our country and this illegitimate war.
   We the people need to do this not just because of Bush and Cheney and their cabal of Power hungry , APAC serving , traitors. But because we also need to put on notice any future president, that we the people are in the end will not tolerate self-serving government.
   That if they abuse their power enough they will awaken the sleeping giant, (the American people).

   The pardoning of Nixon by Ford, I believe was a mistake. All that showed the nation was that if you are powerful enough and have friends in high places, that the law does not apply to you .
   The people need to know that ultimately justice prevails. That as it is said “ we are nation of laws,not of men”.

   IMPEACH!

   Look I am not suggesting anything actionable or explicit in any way.
   But from a subjective point of view , were not former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln assassinated for far much less by comparison to the blatant criminality that exists in the current executive branch?

   As I understand it, if the senate acted like they in the least upholding their oath taken to preserve and protect the constitution, the senate could issue criminal proceedings against Bush and Cheney.

   Impeachment would painfully drag out the inevitable. Meaning alot more serious damage (i.e. World War 3) could be perpetrated by these criminals.

   If the Democrats, with the help of some rational (?) Republicans, can’t undo the civil liberties damage carried out by this dreadful administration and its “rubber-stampers”, impeachment must remain on the table. The security of our country is far more important than the reputations of politicians preoccupied with totalitarian control and perpetual war.

   This mentality will bury our country in death and debt!

    each day do something that helps bring about this change - talking about it is a great start, but as American citizens you really have to get this thing happening.

    one person standing in a street holding a sign illustrating their disgust still has an impact.

    I think that if Bush and Cheney get to 2008 without being removed from office it should be known more as a failure of the people to act on their energy.

    forget about the politicians - they are not going to get this thing done - there needs to be action of the part of the masses…

    power to the people!

    What is wrong with this picture?

    Bushco gets asked if they are planning for a possible first strike with nuclear weapons against Iran and the pussycats in the press corps dutifully swallow the line “all options are on the table” not only from Bushco but Democratic front runners for the presidential nomination.

    Pelosi with a majority in the House gets confronted on the possibility of impeaching Bushco (I know Cheney first, then Bush, followed by Gonzalez, etc.) and says that impeachment is “off the table”. The hell it is! The very least you can do Ms. Pelosi is to make good and sure that this congress does everything possible to keep it on the table if it means tying up “business as usual” till it gets done.

    Can someone please tell me what happens if Bush is successfully impeached and Cheney isn’t? Cheney is second in line. I begin to understand Pelosi. She’s third in line. And what about your Constitution? You elected a Republican administration in 2004 - doesn’t it have to stay until 2008? Wouldn’t it be easier to get rid of Cheney legally and let Bush flounder his way down? Someone else has said that impeachment would probably take as long as the 23 months left of this administration’s life.

    every single day, get up and call your reps.
    call or email one or all of them each day.
    make some calls to other reps you like.
    call pelosi’s office every morning.
    (they think it is weird when we easterners call.)

    the squeaky wheel will get the grease on this one. apparantly, our voice in Nov was not loud enough, our voices since November have not been heard loudly enough…even though 400,000 of us marched in the streets, and will do it again…we are clearly not being heard.

    we have to make impeachment a daily topic again by agitating and educating and forwarding articles like this to every single person we know, since it won’t be in the local rag.

    it would scare me to the cliffs of insanity if impeaching one or both of these criminals led to cheney being in charge for even just one day….but it scares me more that they could get away with how they have ruined our country and stripped away our rights and our country’s greatness.

    get up in the morning and call!!!

    Here is what to tell your Congress people:

    Impeachment has to happen for at least two reasons.

    First, it is the appropriate remedy called upon to redress crimes that have likely been committed by high elected officials.

    Secondly, it may be the last best defense for our nation to avoid the all-out unthinkable catastrophe that would be a strike (nuclear or otherwise) against Iran in the coming days by an increasingly unstable and cornered Administration.

    Questioning the “political expediency” of impeachment always seemed disturbing because it permits our elected officials discretion to go after potentially serious crimes—or not—as the electoral calendar, but not the public interest, dictated. Law applied only when convenient, ceases to be Law. If We, the People, through our representatives, allow the most serious crimes committed in the history of our nation to go unexamined, much less unpunished, we will have no legacy to pass on to our children. Effectively we will have allowed America to die.

    Impeachment, if not toward Cheney & Bush, needs/should include ALL the employees who helped fabricate the “evidence” that was used. By impeaching them it stops them from EVER working for the government again. Cheney, don’t forget, has worked for prior administrations. If the behind the scenes appointees are not impeached, they’ll come back to do harm, again, years down the road.

    I am a registered Democratic, I have never voted for any other party….but I am angry, angry enough to vote for a different party…(NO, not Republican or Libertarian) but to vote against Patty Murry and Jay Inslee and any other damn democratic politician who refuses to acknowledeg the peoples “right to impeach” (Pelosi, Reid, etc.)…65% want impeachment hearings and these “obstuctionists”, refuse to do the peoples business, (bidding)..? Just who the hell do they think they are..who the hell appointed them “the last word” in our Democratic Republic..? Is there any way to recall or impeach these characters for “obstructing the peoples will”…? I for one am angry enough to do it…
