Just look at the past six years for the answer. We’re the gluttonous five percent of the human race, ready and willing to destroy what’s left of the world to save our precious American Way of Life.
There’s been a drop-off of 1.5 million barrels per day in Saudi production over the last year. Global excess capacity in oil production has been around 2-3 mbpd over the last few years. That’s going to evaporate over the sands of Arabia as Gawar chokes up her last. Unless there’s some type of miracle, supply is now going to tighten inexorably. The price curve is going to steadily rise as a result.

I was in New Orleans 10 days after Katrina; no one was safe without a firearm and the will to use it. Grocery Stores were looted and then burned to the ground as were convenience stores, liquor stores, drug stores and appliance stores. The gov’t, ever impotent, was to no avail.
Hasten away to a few acres far from the carnage or you may end up the main course at someone’s barbque.

Actually, the lurid violence you anticipate has little evidence to support it. In much worse disasters than New Orleans, in other parts of the world, the survivors usually cooperatte and pull together to improve their situation. There were accounts of such things happening in New Orleans.
It will the gun-toting faithful followers of “American values” who will be the biggest threat.
I would trust my urban neighbors far more than the scary, armed rednecks I’ve encountered in rural areas.

I know the Saudi Arabian Oil Co. is just now beginning the construction of an immense expansion of the injection system in Ghawar, in order to increase production in the neighboring Khurais field by 1.2 million BPD. I have no idea how long this can be produced, but the Saudis are scrambling to keep production up to feed the cancerous growth worldwide.
