   Just keep hammerin’ away at this administration and it will fall. Siege machines in the middle ages hurled rocks at 3m.- thick castle walls relentlessly until the walls were breached . One siege machine ( Irag ) would do the job but a battery of Katrina , Guantanamo …will do it even faster.

   One can tell by looklng and listening to Gonzales that he is as dumb as a post. look who appointed him a moron.Bush/Cheney/Ganzales/Rove/Condi and Rummy have done more harm to America and our constitution than any other admiistration in history. Impeachment should be the number one thing on the table not as madam speaker says off of the table.The Democrat’s are not doing much to help get rid of these crook’s

   Though Gonzales is certainly a criminal & a disgrace, let’s all note that the hypocrites at the NY Times merely call for Gonzo to go — but say nothing about the far worse criminals Gonzo serves. Every now & then the NYT tries to burnish its “liberal” cred by a symbolic attack on some limited aspect of this depraved administration. However, the other 30 days of the month, the NYT is busy propping Bush up.

   Just look at the last sentence of the editorial, after the NYT makes many solid & specific criticisms of Gonzo: Mr. Bush should dismiss Mr. Gonzales and finally appoint an attorney general who …
   - Well, OK, boys, if you’re really serious about all that, why not just come right out and say that the kind of president who appoints all these helper-criminals, & who orders all the torture and law-breaking — that HE TOO should be “dismissed.” But the NYT doesn’t have the stomach to say that. They want to pretend that Bush is “ill-served” by Gonzo, when the truth is, Gonzo is precisely Bush’s kind of guy.

   Agree with RichM. It is disservice to CommonDreams to put links to NYTimes’ quislings. This paper of record fully desrves its title, for it’s record stinks. I personally always call it “New York Pravda”, this loyal organ of CPUS - Capitalist Party of US. What a mirror image of USSR we all live now in.

   How can anyone expect George W. Bush to fire Alberto Gonzales? I hope no one is holding her/his breath for that one. Will Bush quit abusing his power and relentless attack on the constitution? Nope? Then he needs is number one legal enabler. Alberto sez anything at all that King George wants to do is fine, because we gave it to him with the war powers vote.

   How about more realistically all legal powers, bar associations and authorities call for Gonzales being disbarred?

   I see everyone waving guns (OK, writing stuff on the internet) but no bullets. What does it take to remove this regime from power? The Dems won’t do it as they are looking to 2008. What does it take? 100,000 people throwing stones at the White House?

   Under the constitution, Congress has the authority to impeach any and all lower officials. Gonzales would be a good place to start.

   Gonzales should be inpeached and charged with treason, He has defacated on the constitution and he has broken, and been party to Grave and Dishonest acts. Hes is a SLIMEBAG LIKE BUSH AND CHENEY. CHARGES SHOULD BE BROUGHT AGAINST HIM TODAY!

   It’s true, RichM. The NYTimes postures as strident and demanding that Bush fire Gonzales because he acts as personal consigliere–upholding all Bush administration criminal ambitions and violations, but in the process ignores Bush. The sneering Gonzales, like the parsing Condoleeza ain’t nothing but a servant.

    The Bush Administration and his Republican Party have delivered another black eye to the Hispanics (Mexican-American) and African Americans with their selection of very weak people to important posts (Alberto,Condi and others). They have abused affirmative action and left the impression that there are no competent members of these greatly underestimated groups. Now when they lose their power, the nation thinks members of minorities are a bunch of sell-outs and incompetents and dumbbells! But the nation will not look down on soft, flabby, pasty looking White nerds who have highjacked our Constitution, not to mention the Yalies.

    There is an almost admirable transparency about the Bush administration. You have to hand it to them. In some respects they don’t sneak around with their power grabs. They stand right up there in the public spotlight and blatantly announce that wolves are now in charge of protecting henhouses.

    That these abuses would occur has been obvious from the date of Gonzales’ confirmation. Bush appoints his personal legal bodyguard to the top law enforcement job in the country. Could anybody have expected any other outcome? And yet we (the strange, schizophrenic collective entity the world calls “Americans”) went right ahead with it anyway, as though it were not a jaw gompering stupid idea. We seem to have some kind of Constitutional death wish.

    What do you mean “we”? I know I never did. Maybe you did. The point about tearing up the Constitution is that they proceed without our consent. Being loudmouthed and aggressive is a bullying tactic that seems to only work on the Senate and Congress . . . The Supreme Court is another matter, like the Attorney General — know who butters your bread.

    While it is relieving to come to Commondreams and see people acknowledge the harm that is being done to the constitution, to our freedoms, etc what I never see is that sentiment echoed in the MSM or on TV or anywhere outside of the progressive media. It seems at some point the concerns have to reach a critical mass and make the jump, but all I KNOW is they haven’t yet.
