   I don’t know how it can be done, but this war has to be stopped. Men and women are being killed every day in a war started with lies.If the newly elected Dems refuse to do what they were elected to do,end this mess, then they deserve to be voted OUT after one term. Someone has to stand up and tell Bush/Cheney NO MORE.

   What needs to be done is to quit all the fancy footwork in an effort to gain politicaly, and put the funding request up for a vote so that the voters can at least decide who they want to get rid of in 2008 if it passes.

   The Democrats have to be leaders. If they build the Party around the leaders who stand up and take a stand, then the voters will come. All this political theater they are engaged in only lose them support and disillusion that public as to the efficacy of the political process.

   The Democrats have to be leaders. If they build the Party around the leaders who stand up and take a stand, then the voters will come. All this political theater they engage in (while lives are lost and our national treasury–though borrowed–is diminished) only loses them support and disillusions the public as to the efficacy and worth of engaging in the political process. It is a cynical approach, and by God we need some idealism to work for, a practical idealism that sees portends future consequences that are beneficial to this nation, not a vision of endless war to keep a global economic empire.

   What is missing is the confrontation with the fact that they don’t care about us and they don’t care about the troops either. They care about who funds them–and it ain’t us–though we are the source they all seek to loot via the taxpayers purse.

   The democrats don’t have to do nothing as long as you keep backing them as the lesser of 2 evils.

   Democrats merely should require that Bush pursue the Iraq occupation
   solely within the Pentagon’s regular budget. That would alert
   Americans to the fact that this “war” has been funded almost
   entirely through emergency appropriations (read: borrowed money).
   Such action would not mark non-support for “the troops.” But
   it would force Bush to choose between his war and unneeded
   weapons systems.

   All the talk of bringing the “troops home” doesn’t mean anything as long as troops keep volintering for Iraq service, and the decider” can tell the voters to kiss his behind. It kind of makes a mockery of democracy and the constition.
